What asset classifications does Nitrogen support?
Upon creation of an account, Nitrogen will present an Asset Class breakdown of the holdings in each account based on the following four categories: Stocks, Bonds, Cash, Other.
Note: Hover over a slice within the pie chart to see each individual investment within an asset class category, including the percentage weighting that investment(s) equals for that asset class.
Asset Class Categories
➡️ Stocks
Individual equities will be classified as “Stock.”
Mutual funds, ETF’s with equity allocations will reflect based on the percentage of exposure within that fund or ETF.
➡️ Bonds
Individual bonds will be classified as “Bonds.”
Mutual funds, ETF’s with a fixed income allocation will reflect based on the percentage of exposure within that fund or ETF.
For example: In the case of a blended fund such as a 60/40 mutual fund, Nitrogen will split the portions of that fund between stocks and bonds. For instance, if 10% of a portfolio is allocated to a 60/40 fund, then the asset class chart will reflect 6% equities and 4% bonds from that specific holding.
➡️ Other
Non-Traded REITs/DPPs, Variable Annuities, and any other custom allocation or any security unrecognized by Nitrogen will display as “other.”
Note: SMA holdings will now appear within Nitrogen and give full breakdowns of their underlying holdings.
➡️ Cash
Cash, Money Market funds and cash allocations as part of Mutual Fund/ETF allocations will display as cash.
➡️ Custom Investments
Have a unique investment that isn't recognized in Nitrogen? No Problem! With our custom proxy feature, simply select your proxy, and we’ll do the rest. Your custom investment’s Asset Class will reflect the proxy you selected.
Why are Asset Classes Not Showing for My Portfolio?
If an account or portfolio consists solely of investments not recognized by Nitrogen, a simplified pie chart will be displayed in place of the asset class chart.
