- Autopilot as a Prospecting Tool
Within the confines of many advisors' existing websites, they have carved out a page devoted to the simple messaging. This speaks to the low cost, ease and digital experience of the product. Many have embedded a link with a single call to action such as "Invest Now", "Start Investing" or "Open an Account" button connecting the client to the account opening process.
The most successful advisors who have implemented this strategy are cognizant of the need to build the relationship with the prospective client. Autopilot is technology-assisted digital advisor platform advisors use to connect with investors. Advisors utilize their relationship building skills but have the ingenuity to elevate the client experience and attract a new demographic of clients due to the online feel and nature of Autopilot.
Advisors can then bring prospects or clients into the office and walk them through the program, send them a link to their website after they’ve had a chance to discuss, or have one of their back office staff guide a client through via join.me or webex session.
This approach is terrific and greatly used for advisors to transition their smaller accounts into Autopilot, or offer their current clients' children an online platform to work with the advisor.
This also helps avoid confusion and crossover with their current book of business.
Screen Sharing Techniques
This has been especially effective for advisors that have a broad reach of clients in a number of cities or states. They can promote via email, social media or their conventional client approach but instead of in person, they have the ability to offer online advice meetings and webinars. This has been especially effective for advisors to promote their business as cutting-edge, focused on the needs and wants of investors, and expand their reach beyond proximity.
Online or Digital Classroom
We have several advisors that know or work with CPAs, attorneys and/or bankers. They’re building out a pretty nice, long term referral system. For CPAs, this is especially prevalent during tax season. The advisor can provide the CPA with the account opening link and when the client meets with the CPA to do their taxes, he can refer them to the Autopilot link to invest part or all of the refund. Or, the CPA refers the client to the advisor and they can then walk through the Autopilot process.
Autopilot as a Prospecting Tool
These are all great methods, but the key is to know your target audience and determine the best means of dialoguing with them. Marketing is fun and rewarding. Be creative when you use Autopilot to grow and strengthen your practice.
