Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication
You’re just five steps away from becoming a Multi-Factor wizard. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
- Upon logging in to Nitrogen, enter your mobile phone number at the prompt.
- A six-digit code will be sent via text message to the mobile phone number you specified.
- Enter your six-digit code into the prompt on the Nitrogen login screen.
- Once the code is entered and validated you’ll be logged in (as normal) and your device will be remembered for the next two weeks.
- Give yourself a high-five...you’re done!
Note: Once the two-week time period has expired, you’ll receive a prompt to enter a new code, which will be sent to your designated mobile phone for you to enter into the login screen.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I turn multi-factor authentication (MFA) off?
Since MFA is designed to increase the level of security you offer your clients, we’ve included this feature as a standard setting for all Nitrogen accounts. To ensure we adhere to industry-standard compliance and security standards, this feature will remain permanently enabled.
I entered the wrong phone number- can I change it?
Please contact Customer Care (care@nitrogenwealth.com) they'll be happy to assist you.
Can I receive my code any other way than SMS texting?
Based on extensive research, and the fact that we pretty much never leave home without it, SMS text via your mobile device is the most accessible and secure way to facilitate this level of security. To ensure you don’t need to maintain one more thing, we’ve chosen the SMS text option as the exclusive opportunity to receive your access code.
Can I set a backup phone number for this?
Right now, you’ll only have the opportunity to provide your primary/default mobile phone number, and we’ve added the concept of a backup number to our roadmap of ideas to consider in the future.
How many days will my device be remembered? Can I extend or shorten this time period?
Your device(s) will be remembered for fourteen days, and you can control which devices (up to three) you want Nitrogen to remember. Currently, the fourteen-day window is the default, and the only, timeframe available.
If you are using a public or shared computer please ensure you do toggle off the option for remembering the device for fourteen days. This way you will not be auto-logged in without a two-step authentication on a device that is not private to you.
How many devices will be trusted at one time for any given user?
Three devices can be trusted and remembered.
Why isn't Nitrogen remembering my code for 14 days?
Nitrogen uses a cookie-based system to remember user devices. That means any time you clear your cache or cookies, Nitrogen will require an additional MFA code to log in. Logging into Nitrogen through different browsers, such as Safari, Chrome, or Firefox, will each count towards your three device limit.
