Adding Accounts
To get started, you'll create a new portfolio for your client or prospect. Start by selecting an account type, choosing between a standard account (Funds, Stocks, and Other) Annuity/Insurance, or SMA/UMA. The Funds, Stocks and Other account is our default account type, and when selected will give you a few different options for entering holdings. The options are as follows:
- Enter Manually: Takes you directly to an empty account, where you can manually search for investments to add via the "Add Investment" search bar along the bottom of the account.
- Copy a Model: Allows you to select one or more of your saved Model Portfolios and use them as a starting point for the account. You have the option to copy a model into your portfolio or copy the holdings from a model.
- Import File: Lets you import a portfolio's holdings via spreadsheet.
- Asset Sync: Our account aggregation solution lets you sync in a client's account holdings from thousands of financial institutions.
Adding holdings, models, and favorites
To add holdings to a portfolio, navigate to a client, select their portfolio, and click on the account you’d like to add holdings to.
Click the Add Investment or model box at the bottom of the portfolio. From here you can search for a specific security, model, or favorited fund from Discovery!
Once you’ve clicked the security or model you’d like to add, you can type in the dollar amount or percentage, and the holding will be added.
Organizing Accounts
Whether your client accounts have been manually entered, imported via a file or synced automatically from one of our available integration partners, you’ll often find the need to organize the list of accounts for a client or household. In order to facilitate this, you can sort accounts within a portfolio by Risk Number, Name, and Account Value. To do this, click the sort button (located directly under the portfolio total).
Pro Tip: You can also reorder accounts manually, by dragging them up or down as needed. The drag indicator will appear when you hover over an account you wish to move up or down in the order.
Removing Accounts or Holdings
To remove an account, simply check the circle next to the account (or select multiple accounts) and click the trash button.
Similar to the account workflow above, to remove a holding, simply check the circle next to the security (or select multiple securities) and click the trash button.
