When getting started with Command Center, uploading your investment objectives is a crucial step to ensuring your team has the data needed to search, sort, and filter through accounts.
Pro Tip: The Investment Objectives inside of Command Center are flexible enough to be used for the Risk Number Ranges you and your team use for a given Investment Objective or Investment Goal chosen by your client. This is one way Nitrogen helps you quantify subjective terms like conservative, moderately conservative, moderate, moderately aggressive, and aggressive. Based on your business' approach, you have complete editing control to set the name, ID, and Risk Range for these Investment Objectives/Goals.

Downloading the Investment Objective File Template
To download the Investment Objective File Template, navigate to Firm Settings in the top right-hand corner of the Command Center.
Scroll down to the Investment Objective Import section and select Accounts.
Next, click the Download Template button to establish the correct format and sample custodian values in your draft CSV.
Note: Sample data will dynamically appear based on the custodian(s) sending data to your instance of Command Center. If no data is available from custodians at the time you download the template, no sample data will be included. If you need to add mappings for additional custodians, please use the custodian naming convention provided below.)
Filling Out the Template
The template has four required fields:
- custodian_name
- external_account _id
- external_objective_id
- objective_name
Note: It may be possible that multiple or all of the values you need are stored in the same system of record, allowing you to export and paste into the template together. The below steps assume the values for each field need to be gathered from different sources.
First, export a list of all your account numbers under rep IDs that you included in your Release of Information (ROI) to your custodian. Paste all account numbers in Column B of the template.
Second, enter the corresponding custodian in Column A for each account.
When adding your custodian into column A, you will need to use the exact naming structure listed below (ALL CAPS ARE REQUIRED). Please note, these are the only supported custodians in Command Center at this time.
- RAYMOND_JAMES
- LPL
- FIDELITY
- CHARLES_SCHWAB
Third, enter the corresponding investment objective name in Column D for each account.
Last, if your custodian does not expose a system identifier for investment objectives, please copy the investment objective names from Column D into Column C.
Uploading the Completed Template
Once you are ready to upload, navigate back to the settings page and drop your file into the uploader.
You will see a confirmation alert confirming whether your document was formatted correctly. If an error shows, you will need to edit the document and upload it again.
If a success indicator shows, you are all set! Your objectives will be incorporated into your account data during the next overnight load and alignment statuses for all your accounts will be visible in the table view the next business day.
Note: All investment objective files uploaded into Command Center are cumulative additions to the platform. This means you can upload multiple investment objective files covering different accounts. Each one does not need to cover every account within a domain, and an account's objective will only be overwritten if that account is present in a new file.
